Dubious Tales Special - Andrew James

When you're at conventions you meet different people, different faces. To be honest, I walked around the convention that many times I never actually noticed Andrew's table, nor did I even say "hi". It was only when we went to the pub that I actually got chatting to the guy and that's when he offered his book to me.

It was interesting to open the page and have really detailed information about the characters. Trouble was I had to keep flicking to the front of the page to connect name to picture. But getting into the story was great. Maybe if he hadn't connected the people to the front page, it would have been a little bit better, cause you get to know the characters from reading (although it does help probably if you've read the webcomic for some events, especially the last story ending).

I enjoyed the inter cut between the two stories in the comic. The little play is quite a unique and different way of telling a story. Sure you're reading the speech from people but having it as a script form too for one of them was quite inspirational, something I've never seen anyone else do.

The artwork actually reminds me of Penny and Aggie which is amazing cause it really makes you connect with the characters. I'm not picking on other webcomics but sometimes when they look more realistic than anything, you can connect more than otherwise pretending that they aren't really real cause they're cartoon-like. I was quite disappointed that there wasn't a gay character (what can I say, but I know most people who go to universities and share flats often have one that is) but that's just me going on about gay characters in the webcomic universe.

The email at the end kinda made my questions of the weird man at the end of the "Pest Control" disappear. I was quite glad how all the characters seemed to have some air-time in the comic. Sometimes with a large cast it doesn't help but it seemed like he gave each one at least something to say or do to improve the story.

My Rating : Since I didn't read it before, it's now added to read online as well! Great stuff!
