Stuff Sucks : Behind The Scenes Sketchbook - Liz Greenfield

Usually with webcomics you never get a behind the scenes. Sure with movies you do, but webcomics often place them into their huge books, concept art, scribblings, even bits of tissue paper in a hope you'll buy it with these added extras, and sure I do bite on occassion. Liz is different, her webcomic books are simply that, the artwork you see, no gadgets, no gizmos, and so she released this limited edition book.

It feels like I'm reading someone's diary when I go into it. Each page has its own unique style, sometimes its scribblings, othertimes its Liz's handwriting (which I'm sure I can somehow forge and get tons of money somehow), othertimes its real nice glossy photos of conventions and the like.

I honestly feel I'm breaking some sin reading this book, it does feel very close to Liz and being one of only 50 made, I feel honoured too. There's some strange glimpses into Liz's world including MSN messages about her, images of men obsessing over her, she really leads a bizarre life because of Stuff Sucks, but there's also the nice side (I hope for her sake) and some adventures and scripts from her life.

It's an amazing glimpse into her life and with only some text being cut off at the bottom of some pages, other than that I couldn't really be negative against it, it seriously shows a lot of work and ideas comes from it all and Amsterdam looks beautiful and her ideas about cannabalism - interesting... hehe.

One utterly great behind the scenes sketchbook, hopefully one of a few, as it gives you glimpses but as Stuff Sucks will probably progress, so too will the art and the wonderful things Liz does in her life.

My Rating : A brief glimpse into a mad MAD world (and not the one sung by Gary Jules)
